In the event that you have a comlaint about the actions or behaviour of a fellow member or the society itself, the procedure set out below should be followed.
Against a fellow member
1. If your complaint is about a fellow member you should in the first instance bring it to the attention of that member and seek an amicable solution.
2. If this action is unsuccessful you shoulf inform the fellow member that you intend to take your complaint to the site steward. Your Steward will then mediate between yourself and the other member seeking to obtain an amicable and acceptable solution between the members concerned.
3. If this action fails you must put your complaint in writing and hand it to the site steward and ask them to give it to the society secretary for discussion at the next meeting of the committee. You should make yourself available to attend the meeting should the secretary decide that it is appropriate for you to do so.
4. The secretary will contact you within 14 days of the meeting with the committee's decision.
Against the society.
1. If you have cause to complain about the actions of the society you should immediately bring your concerns to the notice of the society's secretary.
2. If s/he is unable to give you a satisfactory answer you must put your complaint in writing and send it by post to the society's sevretary. The secretary will acknowledge the receipt of your complaint and if s/he is still unable to give you a satisfactory explanation, will take it for discussion to the next committee meeting, at which you may be required to attend.
3. The society's secretary will contact you within 14 days to give you the committee's decision/explanation (or tell you why s/he cannot do so) of the actions that are the cause of the complaint.
4. You may appeal against the decision of the committee in writing to the society's President within 7 days of hte receipt of the committee's decision.
5. On appeal. the Presidents decision is final.
