Redhill Allotments

Rent is the society's main source of income and therefore it is very important that it is paid on time and in full.

The rent is based upon the size of your plot, usually 300 or 400 square yards, but sizes may vary. In addition you will be charged a small National fee plus the society's plot holder insurance and water charge. At the start of the tenure, where appropriate, you will be charged a returnable key deposit.

Rents cover the period from 1st January to 31st December and are set at the AGM. Your Steward will tell you the size of the plot and the approximate amount of rent payable. The society's Treasurer will then confirm this.

An account for each years rent will be sent direct to the plot holder each year. The rent must then be paid no later than the date given on the account.

New Tenants are required to pay rent as soon as they take over the plot. If the plot is taken part way through the year a pro-rata rent will be charged - e.g. if a plot is taken in July, six months rent will be charged.

Where a plot holder has to be reminded of non-payment of rent a surcharge of £2.00 will be applied.

Your tenancy is provisional and subject to a three (3) month trial period, during which time you are required to demonstrate good gardening practice. you should further be aware that failure to grow crops, or to allow the plot to become overgrown will result in notice being given by the Society and after due procedure, You the plt holder will be evicted from the plot and the society.

Please Note:
Subletting is not allowed
Members are allowed to attend the AGM and vote, only if their rent has been paid up to date and in full.
The committee reserves the right to evict a plot holder if:
- they fail to pay their rent or,
- they allow their plot to become overgrown or,
- any plot holder persistently fails to follow and adhere to the rules of the handbook.
